Chemical strengthened lithium alumino-silicate cover glass for high-end smartphonesWhether we’re shopping in the city, traveling by bus, or at home sitting on the sofa, one thing always accompanies us: our smartphone. A phone call or a text message here, a photo there. It’s always at hand. How quickly it can happen that our cell phone suddenly falls down! An ordinary accident doesn’t have to result in a broken screen.
Customer requirements are steadily growing, especially in the premium segment. The competition is anything but asleep. SCHOTT came up with the next innovation: Xensation® Up. cover glass.
Discover the Innovation-Story!
SCHOTT Xensation® Up. is the next generation of chemically-strengthened lithium alumino-silicate (LAS) cover glass. It guarantees even greater flexibility and shorter processing times during the chemical strengthening process, factors that sustainably optimize breakage strength and offer processing partners more freedom.
Up.graded StrengthXensation®Up. shows outstanding results in set drop performance for maximum survival likelihood after smartphone drops. Xensation® Up. strength parameters are well balanced to obtain superior mechanical performance in all relevant criteria.
Up.graded FlexibilityThe secret to this improved strength is a newly improved chemical strengthening in a salt bath that increases ion exchange (IOX). The process displaces small ions, which allows larger ions to move into it. This means that the space is filled better and it becomes more stable.
Up.graded ReliabilityThe difference is clear: The probability that a high-end smartphone with Xensation® Up. will survive a drop unscathed is ten times greater than with conventional alumino-silicate glass.
- Outstanding results in set drop performance for maximum survival likelihood after smartphone drops
- Superior ion exchange capabilities in order to ensure excellent strength and processing performances
- More flexibility to maximize strength performance
- Wider IOX processing ranges
- Options for shorter IOX processing time
- Typical CS (compressive stress) and DoL (depth of layer) values are well balanced to obtain superior mechanical reliability
