SCHOTT Orim in Turkey receives ‘Safe Production Certificate’

The Turkish Standards Institute awarded the ‘Safe Production Certificate’ to SCHOTT Orim Cam in July. As one of the leading companies in Turkey, SCHOTT Orim is the first company in its sector of processed glasses for the Home Appliance industry to receive this certificate. It was awarded to both its factory locations in Bolu and Cerkezkoy. The certificate honors the high-level measures SCHOTT Orim has taken since the first day to counter the pandemic of COVID-19.

“The main purpose of this Safe Production Certificate is to secure the health of our employees, families, customers, suppliers and all other stakeholders during the pandemic” states Ozlem Sular, Director of Human Resources at SCHOTT Orim.

As part of the process both Orim factories were audited by the Turkish Standards Institute for a full day each. The auditors looked at a wide range of topics such as Hygiene and Work Safety procedures for employees but also visitors in all parts of the factory as well as rules and regulations regarding usage of face masks, temperature checks, meeting rules, handling of emergency cases etc.

As SCHOTT Orim is part of the global Technology Group SCHOTT headquartered in Germany, it could benchmark know how and experience and coordinate actions with other SCHOTT factories worldwide in more than forty countries.

Hakan Gerdan, Managing Director of SCHOTT Orim adds “We are able to ensure business continuity during the COVID-19 pandemic to our customers. At the same time, we are proud to become a model for many companies by taking a reliable approach with the measures we have taken. We want to continue to work with this great responsibility, as the health and safety of all our employees and their families is most important for us.”
