SCHOTT further expands adaptiQ® portfolio to serve any fill-and-finish setup

SCHOTT has expanded its adaptiQ® portfolio to include two new packaging options that give pharmaceutical manufacturers more options in their fill-and-finish setup. SCHOTT’s adaptiQ® vials arrive clean, sterile, and ready-to-use in a packaging that ensures no glass-to-glass contact and pristine quality. The new options give pharmaceutical companies even more flexibility while reducing the risk of glass breakage and maintaining high cosmetic quality. SCHOTT will unveil these innovations at the company’s customer event VISIONIZE on 5th and 6th November in Frankfurt, Germany.

FRANKFURT – November 5, 2019 – International technology group SCHOTT has expanded its adaptiQ® portfolio, which is part of the SCHOTT iQ® platform, to include two new packaging options. The extension comes in response to market trends, which require flexible filling concepts and ready-to-use containers.

“Now Pharma companies can choose the right RTU vial configuration for their fill-and-finish process. While the clip nest allows the processing of vials including lyophilization in the nest, the cup nest allows easy denesting and renesting of vials during fill-and finish. The tray option provides a simple way to feed dedicated RTU vial filling lines with individual vial processing,” said Gregor Deutschle, Director Business Development, adaptiQ® at SCHOTT. The latter achieves higher packaging density compared to the nest and tub combination, while preventing glass-to-glass contact as well.

As a part of the SCHOTT iQ® platform, all packaging options are built on time-tested industry standards and allow for maximum compatibility for manual as well as automated processing. adaptiQ® clip nest is available for 2-30R ISO vials whereas the cup nest and tray packaging cover 2R to 50R ISO vials.

“Different pharmaceutical manufacturers have different needs, and this expanded adaptiQ® portfolio caters to all users from research labs, emerging biotech, and large pharmaceutical manufacturers to support all the way from development through to large scale commercial production,” said Anil Busimi, Senior Global Product Manager for SCHOTT iQ® platform at SCHOTT.

The adaptiQ® nest design allows for a fill-and-finish process entirely free of glass-to-glass contact, maintaining the high quality and robust properties of the SCHOTT vials. The vials are also pre-tested with various closure systems.
Developed in close cooperation with innovative and highly regarded machine suppliers, adaptiQ® vials can be processed on a wide range of existing and new fill-and-finish lines.
