III. Scope of the processing of personal data
1. Account registration
1.1 Purpose of data processing
We validate your registration for SCHOTT ID to ensure the integrity of our systems. To do this, we match your registration data with customer data already stored in our Customer Relationship Management Tool (CRM) or validate your registration request through a double opt-in process.
1.2 Legal basis for data processing
When processing personal data that is required for registration, Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR serves as the legal basis.
2. Storage after successful registration
2.1 Purpose of data processing
Following registration, SCHOTT will store your personal data in the CRM in order to be able to establish a systematic overview of all relationships and interactions of SCHOTT with existing and potential customers. We store your personal data confidentially and use it exclusively to ensure access to the portal and to stay in contact with you and send you information on products from the specialty glass and glass-ceramics sector.
2.2 Legal basis for data processing
When processing personal data that is required for the general contact request, Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR serves as the legal basis.
IV. Categories and recipients of personal data
As part of SCHOTT ID, we process the following categories of data:
- Contact details (e.g. name, e-mail address, company affiliation)
- Date of first activation to prove account registration
- Date of the last login in each case, in order to be able to delete inactive users and comply with our deletion obligations.
The recipients for the temporary storage of your personal data may be the following:
- Administrators of the SCHOTT ID
- Customer advisors of the divisions at SCHOTT whose services you use with the help of your SCHOTT ID account
- Service providers we engage to operate SCHOTT ID and to send information to you
V. Transfer of personal data to a third country or to an international organization
Your personal data will only be transmitted if this is necessary for the general contact request (Art. 49 para. 1 lit. b GDPR). SCHOTT will not transfer your personal data to an international organization.
VI. Further information about the processing of your personal data by SCHOTT
1. Duration of storage in CRM
A systematic approach to the removal of personal data is achieved by means of a deletion concept introduced for this purpose. The latter may be limited to the lawful removal of personal data or may also include data sets without personal reference. In this case, your personal data is automatically deleted as soon as no interaction or no change to the data records has taken place with this data for 6 years. The deletion check runs recurrently every year.
In the event of a refusal to register with SCHOTT ID, we will delete all personal data stored as part of the registration process immediately.
2. Your rights regarding the protection of your personal data
If your personal data is processed, you have the following rights as a data subject within the meaning of the GDPR:
2.1 Right to information
In principle, it is always up to you which of your personal data you make available to us. Of course, you may also exercise your right under Article 15 of the GDPR to request confirmation from SCHOTT in writing, with proof of your identity, as to whether and which personal data relating to you is being processed by us.
2.2 Right to rectification
You have the right to review and correct any of your personal data that we hold.
2.3 Right to deletion
Of course, you can request the deletion of your personal data from us at any time. After the expiration of the retention periods mentioned above in section VI.1, your data will be automatically deleted from the system.
2.4 Right to restriction of processing
Likewise, you have the right to request restriction of the processing of your personal data under the conditions of Art. 18 GDPR.
2.5 Possibility of objection and removal

3. Right of appeal
Without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy, you as a data subject shall have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of your residence, place of work or the place of the alleged infringement, if you consider that the processing of personal data relating to you infringes this Regulation.
