Flexible glass: Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 foldable phone features SCHOTT UTG®

  • Xiaomi MIX Fold 2, a flagship foldable phone, features ultra-thin glass (UTG) from SCHOTT on the internal display.
  • The glass, Xensation® Flex, a member of the SCHOTT UTG® family, can reach a bending radius below 1 millimeter after processing.
 
SCHOTT, the international technology group and inventor of specialty glass, enabled a lighter and stronger foldable phone from Xiaomi, a leading Chinese smartphone manufacturer. Featuring flexible glass from SCHOTT, Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 debuted in China on August 11. The phone features ultra-thin and flexible Xensation® Flex glass, a member of the SCHOTT UTG® family. In June 2022, a foldable phone with SCHOTT UTG® successfully bended over 300,000 times and set a new world record.

30 years in UTG production

UTG has become the industry standard for foldable displays. SCHOTT has been mass-producing UTG for over 30 years and is the major supplier in the foldable smartphone market. Xensation® Flex, a member of the SCHOTT UTG® family, can reach a bending radius below 1 millimeter after processing.
