Supporting Indian pharmacy students: SCHOTT FIOLAX® scholarship program celebrates 10-year anniversary

15 January 2024, Gujarat, India

  • In 2014, SCHOTT launched FIOLAX® scholarship program to support high potential pharmacy students in India
  • Each year, eight to ten students are awarded for their extraordinary academic achievements, industry knowledge, and individual aspiration
  • The monetary benefit of the scholarship is awarded to pharmacy students from over 25 colleges in the Gujarat and Mumbai region
As a foundation company, SCHOTT is committed to promoting science and young talents. This is especially evident in the healthcare sector. For a decade, the international technology group has been awarding scholarships for bachelor (B Pharmacy) and master (M Pharmacy) degree pharmacy students in India, one of the key hubs for medicine production. With the pharmaceutical industry being one of SCHOTT's most important business areas, the company sees it as an obligation to enhance healthcare around the world with advanced pharmaceutical glass tubing and packaging. Besides the scholarship, the awardees benefit from exclusive education on pharmaceutical glass tubing and packaging at the SCHOTT site in Jambusar, Gujarat, with production tours and training workshops.

“Each year, we evaluate around 100 applications, including reviewing technical essays on various topics, such as post-pandemic pharmacy or digitalization and artificial intelligence in the pharmaceutical industry, and conducting 1-to-1 interviews. Together with their university professors we select students based on their exceptional performance, their ideas for the future of the industry, and their personal aspirations in this six-month process. And we make sure that we support those who need it most”, says Sundeep Prabhu, Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing Pharmaceutical Tubing of SCHOTT Glass India. “We are very proud that all of our participants now hold important positions in the pharmaceutical industry.”

The FIOLAX® scholarship nominees of 2023 were celebrated on Saturday. Due to the 10-year anniversary of the program, the award ceremony took place as part of a large celebration in Mumbai, which was also attended by many alumni from previous years. Since the program started, nearly 100 students have been awarded. Additionally, SCHOTT Glass India celebrated its 25th company anniversary, adding to the significance of the occasion.
