  • SCHOTT complements its own climate strategy with a “School and Climate Protection” funding project
  • Schools develop creative ideas on climate protection
  • Best projects rewarded with up to EUR 20,000
The international specialty glass manufacturer SCHOTT AG wants to become climate neutral by 2030. Under the motto "Together for the Climate," the company is combining its own efforts with the "School and Climate Protection" funding project in the regional environment of its six German sites. “We would like to support schools in raising awareness of the problem of climate change among students and motivate young people to come up with their own solutions for more climate protection at their school,” explains Chairman of the Board of Management Dr. Frank Heinricht. SCHOTT will be rewarding the best ideas with up to EUR 20,000. The “winning ideas” are to be implemented over the next few months with these funding amounts.

The funding project started in the fall of 2021. 17 schools in the vicinity of the SCHOTT sites in Mainz, Grünenplan, Jena, Landshut, Mitterteich and Müllheim participated. An internal SCHOTT project group evaluated the ideas submitted based on predefined criteria. These included the aspects of sustainability, innovation and creativity, team performance and commitment, approach to problem solving, practical feasibility and the quality of the project description.

“We are deeply impressed by the creative, meaningful and sustainable proposals that the students came up with the support of their teachers,” said Salvatore Ruggiero, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at SCHOTT AG, as a representative of the SCHOTT project team.

The respective site managers are currently honoring the submitted projects in local events, combined with the awarding of the funding amounts.
