Processing of your personal data by SCHOTT for the organization of events

Thank you for your interest in SCHOTT and our events. We take the protection of your data seriously and would therefore like to inform you in the following about our use of your personal data.

III. Scope of the processing of personal data

1. Purpose of the data processing

Your personal data will be used by SCHOTT for event management - to provide you with information about the event and to ensure access to the event. We store your personal data confidentially and use it exclusively for this purpose, unless you have given us further permission to do so or the processing of your data is necessary for our business relations.

2. Legal basis for data processing

The legal basis for the use of your data is your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO) as the legal basis.

IV. Recipients or categories of personal data

The recipients for the temporary storage of your personal data may be the following:

  • SCHOTT employees who are entrusted with the organization of the event
  • Service providers who operate our registration platform and whom we engage to send information to you

V. Transfer of personal data to a third country or to an international organisation

The platform through which you register for the event and through which we manage your participation in the event is operated by our service provider based in the USA. Therefore, your personal data will also be processed outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and in a country that is not subject to an adequacy decision by the European Commission and therefore does not ensure the same level of data protection as the EEA. However, we ensure that the recipient of your personal data provides an adequate level of protection by concluding standard contractual clauses for the transfer of data as approved by the European Commission (Art. 46 GDPR).

SCHOTT will not transfer your personal data to an international organization.

VI. Use of your data for information purposes

1. Description and scope of data processing

When you register with us, you will have the opportunity to give your consent to SCHOTT AG sending you information about special glass and glass ceramics. If you choose to do so, you will then have given this declaration of consent: 

"I agree that in addition to the information about the event, SCHOTT AG will send me e-mails with information about products from the Specialty Glass and Glass Ceramics division. My data will not be passed on to third parties. After registration, I can revoke my consent at any time. I can send a revocation of consent to unsubscribe@mailing.schott.com or also declare it by fax or by post. Furthermore, I have the possibility to revoke the consent by using the unsubscribe link in every e-mail. "

2. Legal basis for data processing 

The legal basis for the processing of the data is your consent in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a DSGVO.

3. Purpose of the data processing

This additional processing of the data collected during registration serves to send you advertising for our product offers.

4. Retention period

The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required to achieve the purpose for which it was collected. Your contact data will therefore be stored for advertising purposes for as long as you wish to receive information from us in the field of special glass and glass ceramics.

5. Potential recipients of your data

The personal data collected from you will be treated confidentially and stored and used exclusively in the context of the relationship between you and SCHOTT AG. 

The data provided to us will not be transferred to any external third parties or organisations outside the SCHOTT Group, unless you expressly give your consent to this during the ordering process. Your data will only be transferred to companies of the SCHOTT Group if you contact them directly, if you have consented to this or if it is necessary to carry out the offers or services that you wish to use.

Insofar as we make use of service providers for the implementation and handling of processing operations, the contractual relationships are regulated in accordance with the provisions of the applicable data protection regulations. 

VII. Website Analytics

1. Description and scope of data processing

Our event platform uses Google Analytics, a cookie-based web analytics service provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheater Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, United States ("Google") for statistics tracking.

Cookies are text files that are filed and stored on a computer system via an Internet browser. Each cookie contains a characteristic string that can uniquely identify the browser to when you open the website.

Google analyzes your use of this website on our behalf. The information collected by Google about your use of this website (e.g. the referring URL, pages visited, your used web browser, your language setting, your operating system used or your screen resolution) are transmitted to a Google server in the USA, stored there, analyzed and the result made available to us in anonymous form. 

In order to protect your privacy, we use the function "_anonymizeIp ()", thus IP addresses within member states of the European Union or other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area are shortened beforehand in order to further exclude a direct personal connection. Only in exceptional cases, our website sent the full IP address to a Google server in the US to be shortened there. The IP address provided by Google Analytics as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data. 

2. Legal basis and purpose for data processing

For website analytics, the legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR).
The use of the analytic cookies is for improving the quality of our website and its contents. Through the analytic cookies, we learn how the website is used and so we can constantly optimize our offer.

3. Duration of storage

Cookies are stored on your computer. Therefore, you have full control over the use of those cookies.

4. Objection to processing and erasure

You may opt-out of Google Analytics by clicking here.

You can also use the settings of your Internet browser to prevent storage of cookies or to delete them.

VIII. Further information about the processing of your personal data by SCHOTT

SCHOTT will also provide you with the following additional information at the time your personal data is collected in order to ensure fair and transparent processing:

1. Retention period

A systematic procedure for removing personal data from the event management system is achieved through a deletion concept introduced for this purpose. Your personal data is automatically deleted 14 months after the event. 

2. Your rights regarding the protection of your personal data

a) Right to information
In principle, it is always up to you which of your personal data you make available to us. However, you can of course also exercise your right under Article 15 of the GDPR and request confirmation from SCHOTT in writing, with proof of your identity, as to whether and which personal data relating to you is being processed by us.

b) Right of rectification
You have the right to review and correct any of your personal information.

c) Right of cancellation
Of course, you can request the deletion of your personal data from us at any time. After the expiry of the retention periods mentioned above under point VI No.1, your data will be automatically deleted from the system.

d) Right to revoke the declaration of consent under data protection law
Furthermore, you can revoke your consent given to us for the processing of your personal data at any time. The revocation of consent does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent until the revocation.
If you no longer wish to receive mailings about this event, please click on the "Unsubscribe"-link featured on the event website. Please understand that in both cases you will not be able to attend the event.

e) Right to restrict processing
Likewise, under the conditions of Art. 18 DSGVO, you have the right to request a restriction of the processing of your personal data.

f) Right of appeal
Without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy, you as a data subject shall have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of your residence, place of work or the place of the alleged infringement, if you consider that the processing of personal data relating to you infringes this Regulation.

3. Automated decision making including profiling

No automated decision-making, including profiling, takes place within the scope of SCHOTT's event management.
