Product variants of solid electrolytes

SCHOTT offers high-purity sodium-ion conducting solid electrolytes tailored for next-generation battery technologies.

Sodium-ion conducting solid electrolytes

SCHOTT’s sodium-ion conducting glass-ceramics can increase the performance and safety of today’s liquid-electrolyte Na-ion batteries while enabling next-generation all- or almost solid-state Na-ion batteries. Additionally, the material can be used as a substitute for β-alumina in high-temperature Na-ion batteries.

Sodium-ion conducting solid electrolytes
Sodium-ion conducting glass-ceramics combine high chemical stability with excellent Na-ion conductivity.
  • Sodium-ion conducting solid electrolytes
  • Sodium-ion conducting solid electrolytes

CHARACTERISTICS

  • Based on sodium silicate glass-ceramics (the N5s)
  • Combines high chemical stability with excellent Na-ion conductivity
  • Low sintering temperature of around 1,000 °C
  • Available in powder form, with standard particle sizes of 2 – 3  µm for easy processing

YOUR ADVANTAGES

  • Efficient charge transport thanks to high Na-ion conductivity
  • High stability against sodium metal enables Na-metal anodes
  • Tunable sintering temperatures enable co-sintering with cathodes
