The 2024/2025 fiscal year once again presented a complex mix of macroeconomic headwinds and important progress for SCHOTT. Amid ongoing economic stagnation in Germany, structural uncertainties in global markets, and persistently elevated costs — particularly energy and industrial-input costs — the Group nonetheless delivered stable financial performance. This outcome reflects the strength of SCHOTT’s long-term investment and growth strategy, combined with disciplined cost and risk management. Looking ahead, we remain committed to advancing our strategic agenda and will continue to invest in our future.

      Quartz glass hollow cylinders

      Strategic expansion through the QSIL acquisition

      Following the successful acquisition of QSIL GmbH Quarzschmelze Ilmenau, SCHOTT has made significant progress in integrating the Ilmenau-based quartz glass specialist into the Group. The integration process is now largely complete, strengthening SCHOTT’s position in high-purity fused quartz and expanding its capabilities along the value chain. With the combined expertise of both companies, SCHOTT is accelerating the development of advanced quartz glass solutions to meet growing demand in semiconductor, optics, and high-tech industries.

      Growing our Pharma footprint

      SCHOTT Pharma expanded its European footprint with a new ampoule plant in Serbia and the start of construction for an RTU cartridge facility in Hungary. These investments add significant capacity and strengthen supply security for high-quality drug containment and delivery solutions as global demand for injectable medicines continues to rise.
      Groundbreaking ceremony for electric melting tank

      Construction begins: Electric melting tank for pharmaceutical glass tubing

      In Mitterteich, SCHOTT has started building a new electric melting furnace that will produce pharmaceutical glass tubing (FIOLAX® Pro OCF), the base material for syringes, cartridges, vials, and ampoules. The investment is supported by a €40 million grant from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).

      Serial Production of AR waveguides in Malaysia

      SCHOTT has achieved serial production of geometric reflective waveguides at its facility in Malaysia. These precision optical components enable digital content to be projected into the user’s field of vision for smart glasses and other AR devices. As the first company to control the full value chain — from optical-glass melting to final assembly — SCHOTT is now able to supply these waveguides in high volumes and consistent quality.
