The wonder of a star-filled sky is brought to life by the SCHOTT Star Ceiling aircraft cabin lighting system. A combination of SCHOTT® HelioFlex fiber optics and LED technology adds starlight to the cabin ceiling, giving passengers a memorable experience of the galaxies from the comfort of their own seat.

Adding beauty to air travel

The SCHOTT Star Ceiling replicates a beautiful night sky in the cabin, providing a truly relaxing in-flight experience for passengers. Up to 30 light dots or stars can be created with one harness. Each harness consists of fiber optic light guides that are powered by a single LED light source. This means easier installation, longer service life, and less maintenance.

Cost-effective and interference-free

The SCHOTT Star Ceiling fiber optic platform offers a number of key benefits to aircraft manufacturers and airlines. The system is 30% lighter than traditional LED solutions, its fiber optic bundles are simpler and faster to install, and there’s no electrical interference with wireless on-board applications.

Product variants

Smart software enables the SCHOTT Star Ceiling to create a number of effects. The Constellation Stars system allows cabin crews to make a certain ‘constellation’ shine more brightly than surrounding ‘stars’ for a showpiece display. The Background Stars option creates the impression of a far-away galaxy, while the Flickering Stars variant shimmers like the Milky Way.

High performance with low maintenance

The flexible, multi-fiber SCHOTT® HelioFlex harness provides inspiring design solutions even when space is restricted. One harness consisting of a large number of fiber optic light guides creates up to 30 light dots, which are powered by a single LED light source. This combination results in a high MTBF (mean time between failure) while reducing installation and maintenance times.
