III. Purposes of the data processing, legal bases and entitled interests

The Facebook pages of SCHOTT and the associated processing of personal data have the following purposes:

  • Presentation of the content published by SCHOTT on the page
  • Communication between SCHOTT and the users of the page, e.g. by clicking on "Like", commenting or sharing the content
  • Linking to other online content that may be of interest to the users of the page

The legal basis for this is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The necessary balancing of interests is based on SCHOTT's legitimate interest in presenting and communicating information on the subject of glass to interested users of popular online portals.

The Facebook pages of SCHOTT are part of the online platform operated by Facebook at https://www.facebook.com. The purposes of the data processing by Facebook associated with this platform (in particular the operation of the platform itself and the placement of advertisements on the platform), the legal basis for this and the legitimate interests pursued in doing so are described in Facebook's "Data Policy", available at https://www.facebook.com/privacy/explanation.

For the relationship between SCHOTT and Facebook, the Guidelines for Pages, Groups and Events at https://www.facebook.com/policies/pages_groups_events/ and in particular the Page Insights Controller Addendum regarding the responsible person, available at https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms/page_controller_addendum specify which of them fulfils which obligations pursuant to the GDPR.

IV. Categories of personal data processed

SCHOTT does not process any personal data within the framework of its Facebook pages. In particular, SCHOTT does not operate the Internet servers on which the contents of the Facebook Page and the associated communications are stored and processed. The Internet servers for the Facebook Platform are exclusively operated by Facebook.

The categories of personal data that Facebook processes here are described in Facebook's Data Policy (available at https://www.facebook.com/privacy/explanation). When Facebook users communicate with SCHOTT via the Facebook pages of SCHOTT, SCHOTT receives the respective message from the user (including the user name on Facebook). In addition, SCHOTT only receives anonymous statistics from Facebook about visitors to its Facebook pages. These statistics are not personal since they no longer allow conclusions to be drawn about individual users.

V. Categories of recipients, including recipients outside the EU

SCHOTT does not process any personal data within the framework of its Facebook pages. SCHOTT is therefore naturally not in a position to transmit such data to other recipients. If Facebook users communicate with SCHOTT via the Facebook pages of SCHOTT and SCHOTT thereby receives the corresponding messages, SCHOTT will not transmit the contents of these messages to other recipients.

To the extent that Facebook processes personal data within the framework of its Facebook Platform, the categories of recipients (including recipients outside the EU) are described in Facebook's Data Policy at https://www.facebook.com/privacy/explanation. There you will also find information on how to ensure an appropriate level of data protection for recipients outside the EU.

VI. Storage period

In connection with the Facebook pages of SCHOTT, SCHOTT collects and stores only the messages that SCHOTT receives when Facebook users communicate with SCHOTT via the Facebook pages (including SCHOTT's possible replies thereto). SCHOTT will delete these messages at the latest after the expiry of the 6-year retention period under commercial and tax law.

If Facebook processes personal data within the framework of its Facebook Platform. Facebook's Data Policy (available at https://www.facebook.com/privacy/explanation) describes the respective storage period applied by Facebook.

  • the right of access,
  • the right to rectification or erasure,
  • the right to limit the processing,
  • the right to object to the processing,
