    Where materials meet the future

From the edge of space to the core of a microchip, SCHOTT helps turn bold ideas into reality. Built on more than a century of material innovation, our glass technologies are powering the next generation of connectivity, intelligence, and exploration – and defining what’s possible across industries.

Powering the next generation of wearable AR

Making augmented reality truly wearable requires breakthroughs in material science. SCHOTT’s Geometric Reflective Waveguides – crafted from specialty glass and now produced at serial scale – are redefining what’s possible for lightweight, immersive smart glasses. As the first company to achieve consumer-grade production of these precision components, SCHOTT provides a scalable, ready-to-integrate solution for AR device manufacturers worldwide. For more than 140 years, our optical glass has expanded the limits of human vision – and with this milestone, we’re helping partners bring the next generation of AR experiences to life.

Building a smarter, more efficient future for AI

The next leap in artificial intelligence may not come from bigger models – but from the materials inside the chips that power them. Glass-core substrates are redefining semiconductor packaging, enabling denser chips, faster signal transmission, and higher energy efficiency for data-intensive workloads. Capable of complex architecture design and high-volume manufacturing, our glass offers a new path to performance and sustainability for the semiconductor industry.

Protecting power systems that keep satellites in orbit

Modern life depends on satellites that enable global communication, navigation, and Earth observation. Each mission relies on power systems that can endure radiation, extreme temperatures, and the vacuum of space. SCHOTT’s space-proven photovoltaic cover glass protects these systems – extending satellite lifetimes, boosting energy efficiency, and ensuring reliable operation far beyond Earth. With decades of experience supporting groundbreaking missions, we continue to help advance exploration and the technologies that connect our world.

Advancing fusion energy and sustainable innovation

Fusion energy promises a limitless, clean power source – and SCHOTT’s specialty materials are helping bring that vision closer to reality. At the National Ignition Facility in California, more than 4,000 precision laser glass components from SCHOTT were instrumental in achieving fusion ignition. Beyond powering scientific progress, SCHOTT is reimagining its own production for a more sustainable future, with electric melting tanks, circular recycling processes, and a firm commitment to cutting emissions worldwide.

    Smarter cooking with seamless design

As the market moves toward smart and interactive devices, CERAN Luminoir® thin film transistor (TFT) meets consumers’ need for high-resolution, multicolor TFT touch displays with a deep black aesthetic. At the end of August 2025, SCHOTT and its partners launched a multi-week large-scale trial: externally collecting shards from used glass-ceramic cooktops as well as glass-ceramics from other manufacturers were processed and remelted. For the first time, the successful circular economy trial showed how used products could be returned to the production process in both an ecologically and economically viable way.
