FUSICS Table with scratch-resistant cooktop panel SCHOTT CERAN® Miradur™ shortlisted for Product Innovation of the Year
SCHOTT is pleased to announce that their COOKING FUSICS Table Prototype has been shortlisted for Product Innovation of The Year at the kbbreview Retails & Design Awards 2018. The FUSICS Table, which is made using glass-ceramic as a surface material, was created to integrate cooking preparation, cooking itself and dining in one piece of furniture in the kitchen. With an interactive cooking application on a multitouch display including recipes with dynamic ingredient lists, tutorials and videos, the FUSICS table is what SCHOTT believes to be the kitchen of the future.
Dr. Joern Besigner, Director of Product Management at CERAN® states, “We believe that future cooking spaces will evolve from six major trends that are affecting kitchen design in the 21st Century. These include: Functionality, Urbanism, Sustainability, Illumination, Connectivity and Social Experience – abbreviated to 'FUSICS'. With our knowledge of these trends, we are proud to exhibit our FUSICS Table Prototype as the universal glass-ceramic worktop – for cooking, food preparation, dining and interactive media installations – suggesting the freestanding island as the perfect hub for gathering.”
The centre piece of the FUSICS Table is an 8-zone, bi-directional induction stove. Its surface is reliably secured from the challenges of every life by SCHOTT's latest product innovation CERAN® Miradur™ - the first and only scratch-resistant cooktop panel. FUSICS Table also boasts other innovative features such as a near-field sensor which indicates the cooking zones via illumination when the chef approaches the cooktop and an ambient lighting touch control function.
The FUSICS table was launched at London Design Fair 2017. The CERAN® Miradur™ scratch-resistant glass-ceramic surface material and light features are now available in the home appliance manufacturers market. The FUSICS table as submitted is a to-be-commercialised product solution.
