Glass for flash lamps manufacturing
Graded seal glass rods formerly produced by Transition Glass Products TGP
In March 2017, SCHOTT AG acquired all shares of the broad portfolio of graded seal glass rods made by Transition Glass Products Ltd (“TGP”). In addition to all glass types, the entire production process as well as the quality assurance has been transferred and implemented into the SCHOTT AG, Mitterteich site.
SCHOTT Tubing offers the following glass types in rod form with intermediate expansions for graded seal applications in glass-to-glass and glass-to-metal seals, such as fused silica (quartz) to tungsten:

Sealing Glass Tubing
SCHOTT Tubing offers a wide range of glass tubing that is specifically developed to withstand the highest thermal exposure, such as the levels that are reached during a plasma discharge in a flash lamp. In addition our tungsten sealing glasses are manufactured to a very tight level of geometrical accuracy which allows for stable and cost-effective processing. These tight tolerances, specifically for the production of flash lamps with small dimensions, have helped to make SCHOTT Tubing the market leader.
For this application beads are also available that allow the relevant glass to be fused with electrodes.
