Red Dot Award
Cologne Cathedral, which is visited by eight million people every year, was given its first window protection glazing that defends the unique medieval glass paintings against the effects of weather, UV radiation and vandalism. For this purpose, SCHOTT developed the special glass AMIRAN® Heritage Protect, an anti-reflective protective glazing for historical facades and cultural assets. The restoration glass not only offers extremely high transmission, but also reduces reflections by around 90 – even with extreme differences in brightness in front of and behind the pane.
Thin, stable, anti-reflective
With CONTURAN® Tough AS, SCHOTT now offers a robust cover glass for mechanically stressed display glazing. The aluminosilicate glass offers high mechanical stability, is therefore 50 percent more break-resistant than comparable tempered float glass and, with a thickness of only 2.1 millimeters, is extremely light. In combination with the proven anti-reflective coating of the product line, CONTURAN® Tough AS is ideal for displays in demanding environments. Display manufacturers can have the protective glass adapted to their own requirements. Various processing options and coatings are available for this purpose.
