The growing complexity of the consumable biochip market is driving demanding applications. As such, there is a need for customized chip sizes made of high-quality glass substrates.
To address this need, SCHOTT offers a unique solution with NEXTERION® PreScora. Using our proprietary laser process, we can manufacture highly customized coated pre-scored substrates for even the most demanding applications.

As longstanding manufacturer of technical glass, SCHOTT is able to maintain thorough control over all processing steps- starting with the initial glass production and ending up with the product delivery. All NEXTERION® products are manufactured according to the most stringent industry standards, guaranteeing that customers receive the highest quality and most reproducible products.
The SCHOTT group produces several hundred different types of glass. The range of glass thicknesses available is very wide, ranging from 30 µm up to 254 mm depending on the glass type.

We offer substrates exactly adapted to the special application. Typical thicknesses for NEXTERION® substrates range from 0.17 mm up to 2 mm. Custom-sized products can be produced in rectangular, square or round formats. If special tolerances are required, we will be pleased to check if we can meet your requirements.
Expertise in applying thin-film coatings to glass substrates is another SCHOTT core competence. Production of PreScora coated substrates takes place in an ISO class 5 clean room environment where extremely high quality standards are maintained to ensure high performance consumables.

NEXTERION® also offers its diagnostic partners to develop a custom coating or to coat the substrates with coating chemicals developed by clients.
SCHOTT can further customize NEXTERION® PreScora substrates with markings including logos, barcodes, fiducial marks and graphics that are robust enough to withstand challenging biomedical laboratory procedures. These markings can be added at any location on or within the glass surface.
