SCHOTT engineers revolutionized cooking in 1971 with a black glass-ceramic: CERAN®. Today, the rock star sets new standards for cooking in the future.
SCHOTT’s hands-free opening glass door system SCHOTT Termofrost® Smart Access was awarded the German Design Award Gold 2018.
The prestigious German Design Council, which meets every year at the Ambiente trade fair praised SCHOTT’s automatic glass door system. The council said it gives refrigerated shelves in a supermarket an “extremely high-quality look”, making “even simple products such deli meats and cheeses look good.”
Mission accomplished. NOA Intelligent Design and the SCHOTT team had a vision to create a new and positive shopping experience with more comfort and a new visual impression. That led to sensor-controlled automatic doors that open without contact and a design that deliberately refrains from using glass frames and profiles, a landmark in commercial design. According to the jury, this look not only improves the view of food, but creates “a more hygienic feeling.” They concluded that the experience-oriented presentation promotes sales while also recognizing the general value of food. They awarded it the highest honor in the “Retail” category, the Gold German Design Award.
