Sustainable fish farming
The Norwegian cities of Bergen and Stavanger have become a Silicon Valley of the Sea. Here, the current research focuses on the use of algae in fish feed. Microalgae are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and other nutrients such as protein, vitamins and minerals. A pioneer in research is the University of Bergen, who operates together with NORCE and the company CO2Bio AS a pilot plant for algae production. The project plant uses photobioreactors (PBR) from LGem, a company based in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and DURAN® borosilicate glass tubing.
In January 2019, a special exhibition at the Living Kitchen trade fair in Cologne showed the kitchen vision of design icon Alfredo Häberli. The stand complemented real with digital content (Augmented Reality) and showed a vision that does not exist – yet. In addition to brands such as Samsung, arwa, Cosentino and Petersen Tegl, SCHOTT CERAN® sponsored the Swiss designer's exhibition – and was delighted to be part of Häberli’s kitchen of the future.
