HF (Hydrofluoric Acid) Scavenging Glass

Extending the life of lithium-ion batteries and the preservation of their capacity is a major challenge in the development of ever more efficient battery systems. Hydrofluoric acid (HF) absorbent glass powder from SCHOTT is capable of permanently binding hydrofluoric acid and permanently preventing its damaging effect on the cells.

Anti-corrosion powers

When using standard conducting salt LiPF6 in electrolytes, even small amounts of H2O impurities may lead to a severe drop in cell capacity. This degradation is caused by the formation of HF. SCHOTT’s special glass powder binds fluorine, preventing aggressive acids in the cell and therefore avoiding an attack on the sensitive electrode materials, which would lead to reduced lifetime and premature capacity drop and gas formation.

Increasing battery longevity and safety

In addition to extending the lifetime and preserving capacity, SCHOTT HF Scavenging Glass can also help increase the safety of your cell.
