Product Description

As the name suggests, gas sensors are used to detect a wide range of gaseous substances. They are most commonly used in systems to provide warnings in case of dangerous concentrations of certain types of gases, enabling notice for corrective action to be taken.

Gas sensors must be thoroughly protected from their surrounding environments to function properly, especially in circumstances when the gases they are intended to monitor are damaging or dangerous. Glass-to-metal sealed (GTMS) housings and feedthroughs an ideal choice for the protection of gas sensors. The hermetically sealed housing provides protection for the sensors and also enables supply of electrical power at the feedthrough points.

Gas sensors are also used in vehicles, where they  monitor carbon dioxide (CO2) levels inside the passenger compartment. In case of high carbon dioxide levels, the closure of vents and the activation of the air re-circulation system is initiated.
