Cooking in a new light: Award-winning CERAN EXCITE® enhances customer experience

As the newest edition to SCHOTT’s broad product portfolio for the cooking sector, the lighting innovation CERAN EXCITE® enables household appliance manufacturers to realize endless design variations and improvements to form and function, making cooking smarter and more intuitive than before. At the upcoming IFA, consumers can now discover the solution at the Siemens iQ700 activeLight cooktop.
BERLIN, Germany – September 3rd, 2019CERAN EXCITE® is a complete portfolio of light-optimized materials, filters and coatings that was unveiled to the public at an industry event at IFA 2018 and has since won the world-renowned iF Gold Award 2019. It allows energy-efficient LED light sources to be placed under the CERAN® cooktop panel, which, thanks to the new technologies, shine very clearly and brightly through the dark surface. The highlight: when it is switched off, the light zones are not visually perceptible, so that the observer is presented with an elegant, uniformly black glass-ceramic.

“We are very pleased that CERAN EXCITE® enables a new era of cooking, in which we can offer visual support for more safety, intuitive control and connectivity,” says Dr Jörn Besinger, Head of Product Management and New Business Development for CERAN® at SCHOTT. “However, beyond those aspects, we are able to bring emotion into the induction cooking experience, which is something that consumers are increasingly demanding.”

Enlightening customer experience

At the upcoming IFA, visitors are able to discover the exciting design possibilities of CERAN EXCITE® first hand as featured in the innovative Siemens iQ700 activeLight cooktop in hall 1.1, which will be available in September 2019. This makes Siemens the first renowned home appliance brand to create a completely new customer experience with SCHOTT’s lighting innovation, paving the way for modern kitchen design.
