SCHOTT organizes international exchange for employees' children

“SCHOTT goes Family” promotes intercultural understanding
Over the summer holidays, the international technology group SCHOTT will be organizing a global exchange program for employees' children for the second time. 54 youth from 14 countries will be spending two weeks together with their exchange partners and their families abroad under the motto “SCHOTT goes Family.” The aim of the exchange is to promote intercultural understanding and cooperation.

“Following last year’s positive experience, we are pleased that even more young people will be participating this time and that the whole program will be even more international. This type of an exchange is really great. It promotes mutual understanding and contributes to personal development. International experiences are becoming more and more important and valuable in an increasingly globalized world,” commented Dr. Frank Heinricht, Chairman of the Board of Management of SCHOTT AG.

32 girls and 22 boys of between 14 and 19 years of age from 14 different countries will be participating in the exchange program. Most of them come from Germany (17 participants), the United States (12), the Czech Republic (5) and China (4). Young people from other countries outside Europe such as Colombia (3), Brazil (2) Indonesia (2), Mexico (2), Japan (1) and Malaysia (1) will also be participating.

The young people will live with the host families and take part in family life. Their stays will be used to get to know each other better and to build a personal relationship. As a side effect, parents who work at the various SCHOTT sites will also get to know each other via email, phone or Skype. “This is fully in line with our intention of making SCHOTT more of a ‘Connected Company,’” Chairman of the Board Heinricht noted.
