Three Good Reasons to Visit SCHOTT at CPhI Worldwide

Innovations, industry talks, and individual consultation at booth 2G69 in hall 2

Mainz, Germany / Paris, France, September 16, 2014 – For the first time, SCHOTT will be holding a series of industry talks at CPhI worldwide. In six lectures at the SCHOTT booth, visitors can learn about how to challenge processing limits, how to prevent glass breakage and how to adapt packaging solutions to meet industry needs. Experts will seek to answer all of these and many more questions about the latest trends in pharmaceutical packaging. The events will take place on October 7 and 8 at 11 AM, 2 PM and 3 PM. No registration necessary. Furthermore, the company’s latest innovations in the area of syringes and vials will be on display at the CPhI worldwide trade show.

Prefilled syringes for sensitive biotech drugs

With syriQ™ InJentle, SCHOTT has developed a solution for use with highly sensitive biotech drug substances. A special geometry of the glass barrel does not require any tungsten pin during the glass forming process. The specially developed design offers yet another advantage: during storage, the drug does not come into contact with the needle or the adhesive that holds it. A tamper-evident closure shows whether the syringe has already been used. This closure can still be opened easily even after longer storage periods. Yet another advantage: The staked needle does not stick into needle shield, therefore the needle remains sharp. This makes injections less painful for the patient.

adaptiQ™: Higher efficiency for pharmaceutical companies

SCHOTT has developed a new system for ready-to-use pharmaceutical vials in close cooperation with filling line manufacturers to meet the process requirements of the pharmaceutical industry. adaptiQ consists of a nest and tub configuration that allows for as many as 100 vials to be securely fixed inside a holder (nest) and delivered to the pharmaceutical company packaged in a sterile container. The patented nest design of adaptiQ allows for direct filling, freeze-drying, weighing and closing inside the nest. At the same time, the glass containers are protected so that they do not come into contact with each other or machine components.

Versatile TopPac Pre-fillable Syringes for Improved Patient Comfort

SCHOTT will also showcase its extensive line of TopPac polymer syringes. The broad range of applications for TopPac syringes helps medical practitioners address the two main concerns of the health care sector: ensuring patient comfort and safety. TopPac syringes have been optimized for injecting highly viscous drugs, such as hyaluronic acid (HA), and for intensive care, including infusion therapy with large volume syringes via infusion pumps. In both of these applications, TopPac offers maximized precision, safety, and comfort, ensuring high-quality patient care through safe and comfortable drug delivery. The product is available in small – 1 to 5 milliliter (ml) – and large – 10, 20, 50 ml – formats to be used in combination with syringe pumps for intensive care. It’s made of cyclic olefin copolymer (COC), which makes it break resistant, lightweight, and helps it retain a transparent, glass-like appearance. The syringes are manufactured in fully integrated, clean-room production environments that ensure low contamination and particle levels without washing. They can be processed on all common syringe filling lines.
