Business Development Manager - Glass Syringes
Remote, Greater Philadelphia

Our Business Unit Pharmaceutical Systems is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of pharmaceutical primary packaging and analytical lab services.. More than 600 production lines in 13 countries worldwide produce more than 10 billion syringes, vials, ampoules, cartridges and special articles of tubing glass or polymer.

Your tasks

The Business Development Manager will identify new business and market growth opportunities in the glass syringe industry within North America (NA). The chosen candidate will be responsible for communicating with the Sales team regarding NA market and customer requirements. Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Drive growth of the NA glass syringe business through new and existing customers.
  • Identify business potential, understand product requirements, and fully execute projects.
  • Stay current regarding knowledge of glass containers.
  • Train and provide technical support to the Sales team.
  • Apply product knowledge to attract new customers and define specifications.
  • Assess customer information and develop action plans based on business potential.
  • Prepare rolling forecasts and budgets.
  • Attend tradeshows and seminars.
  • Write journal articles that highlight SCHOTT’s expertise.
  • Develop in-depth market intelligence of NA prefilled glass syringe segment; to include the analysis and understanding of customer information, market conditions and competitors.
  • Maintain in-depth understanding of existing and new segments and applications.

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Bioscience /Chemistry /Pharmacy/Physics/Engineering/ Business Administration or other similar related field.
  • More than 4 years of experience in business development (technical or sales related) within a B2B environment for an international organization.
  • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical packaging industry preferred.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Well-organized and highly motivated team player.
  • Solid business acumen with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Results driven.
  • Effective written, oral and interpersonal communication.
  • Position requires 40% travel.
