Development Engineer / Project Coordinator

Your tasks

The Development Engineer/Project Coordinator is responsible for developing and modifying manufacturing procedures to efficiently align with production processes. The chosen candidate will be required to lead, coordinate and participate as a project manager and will oversee, monitor, and report on the project portfolio for the manufacturing plant. Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Prepares studies and checks the technical and economic feasibility of new production processes and technologies.
  • Plans the required manufacturing equipment for new processes, ensures their implementation with assistance of specialized departments and external companies.
  • Plans the implementation of agreed development measures within the parameters of general requirements and in partnership with supervisor.
  • Prepares plans for test procedures, for implementation of new or modified production processes.
  • Tests new production processes and manufacturing equipment and implements these in the production.
  • Manages the budget utilized for various projects.
  • Requires and ensures that all project participants abide by the SCHOTT Project Management Guideline.
  • Updates Project Management Guidelines, associated templates, and tools when necessary.
  • Supports project managers regarding procedural questions and initiates required trainings.
  • Receives project ideas drawn up by internal and external customers, checks them according to the agreed rules and prepares them for review by the management committee.
  • Generates and maintains a roster of project staff and available capacity for projects and identifies resource conflicts.
  • Identifies goal conflicts of projects and informs the management committee accordingly.
  • Provides recommendations to the management committee for positions, including project manager, steering committee and project team members based on fit and availability.
  • Organizes and leads meetings with the management committee and maintains and publishes meeting minutes.
  • Draws up a comprehensive report for all projects for the management committee and submits it monthly to the entire management team.
  • Ensures that an overview of current projects is drawn up and presents it in each meeting with the management committee.
  • Documents the results of tests and production processes. Prepares process regulations and manuals as well as maintenance schedules.

Your profile

  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering.
  • Minimum 1-5 years related experience.
  • Ability to clearly express technical ideas.
  • Solid organizational skills with good planning and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external customers and within multi-national groups.
  • Ability to work in technical project teams. 
  • Ability to build relationships within cross functional groups; team building skills.
  • Positive attitude, flexible and good work ethic.
  • The successful candidate must be capable of meeting U.S. government security requirements.
