Technical details of ViewPort® and ViewCell™

The ViewPort® bioreactor port and ViewCell™ flow cell for biomanufacturing feature sealed optical windows that allow the use of outside optical sensors to monitor various bioprocessing steps. These interfaces are designed for easy integration into existing bioprocessing equipment to enable sterile in-situ measurements. The SCHOTT® PAT components are made of materials that follow pharmaceutical industry best practices, which is advantageous for qualification.

Enabling measurements while maintaining a sterile boundary

Safe and flexible use of sensors

Because the SCHOTT® sensor interfaces are the only wetted parts, optical measurements can be conducted in-situ while remaining contactless. Using SCHOTT’s PAT components eliminates the need to sterilize the sensor probe. This contributes not only to operational efficiency but can also help with qualification.

Sterilizable

The ViewPort® and ViewCell™ increase efficiency by eliminating the need to sterilize the sensor probe. SCHOTT’s process analytical components can be sterilized using all standard methods, like γ-radiation or steam in place (SIP). The ViewPort® can be sterilized with the entire bioreactor, and the ViewCell™ flow cell can be sterilized with processing piping and other equipment.

Excellent optical properties

The high-quality optical windows used in SCHOTT’s sensor interfaces enable precise transmission of optical signals between sensors and analytes.

Approved materials

The ViewPort® and ViewCell™ PAT components conform to applicable pharmaceutical regulations and guidelines. All components are manufactured using metal, glass, sapphire, and other materials in accordance with the pharma industry’s best practices.

Specifications

The SCHOTT® process analytical technology components maintain safe integrity for the long-term and help prevent contamination thanks to our advanced glass-to-metal seal technology.
