Anti-Glare Glass

SCHOTT Anti-Glare Glass retains the clarity of and transmission qualities of untreated glass with a wider dispersal of light, allowing far greater readability, as well as a reduction in visible dirt, fingerprints and scratch marks.

A clear winner in low reflectance displays

Low reflectance

Thanks to chemical etching on the surface, the total reflectance value is dispersed across a larger solid angle so that remaining reflections seem less disruptive.

Insensitive to dirt

Fingermarks, smudges and scratches, not to mention dirt and dust from busy outdoor environments, are rarely visible on SCHOTT Anti-Glare Glass. This makes it ideal for the heavy use required from touch-sensitive displays.

Outdoor expert

Exposed to natural light, displays and screens can be rendered almost invisible, but SCHOTT Anti-Glare Glass offers strong transparency and withstands environmental pressures.

Difficult lighting conditions

SCHOTT Anti-Glare Glass is designed to to cope with a wide range of lighting conditions, offering reliable visibility from high brightness to near-dark.

Comparison of anti-glare and anti-reflective glass

Both types of glass improve the viewing of displays but possess different properties due to their differing surfaces, so are suited to different needs.

Anti-glare glass: An alternative for difficult light conditions

Chemical etching gives float glass a slightly roughened surface. This disperses reflections across a larger solid angle so that remaining reflections seem less disruptive at any position taken by the viewer (transmission and reflection values remain the same). Anti-glare glass provides good readability in the open, as well as in bright, pointed light conditions. It’s also relatively insensitive to dirt or fingermarks and therefore especially suitable for touch applications.

Anti-reflective glass: The multi-talented CONTURAN® for a diverse range of applications

CONTURAN® anti-reflective glass is a float glass with an optical interference coated on one or both sides that significantly reduces surface reflections. A specially developed immersion procedure is used to apply multiple metal oxide layers just a few nanometers thick. Reflections are reduced optically by up to 90 % and the glass appears invisible. At a transmission of more than 98 % and brilliant color rendering, viewers can focus on what's important.
