As the world’s first low thickness and ultra-high strength glass available in mass production, AS 87 eco offers a cost-effective option for consumer electronics. The ultra-thin glass improves the sensitivity of touchscreens while maintaining a strong protective role.

High impact and bending strength

The latest smartphones require highly durable glass covers, and the high impact and bending strength of AS 87 eco provides exceptional levels of protection for these sensitive devices. This impressive strength also enables the development of thinner, sleeker and more sensitive devices.

Exceptional geometric properties

The manufacture of AS 87 eco involves direct hot-forming of the glass, which results in extremely precise geometric properties such as a tight thickness tolerance of ± 20 µm or lower. With no requirement for a secondary glass slimming process, SCHOTT will direct ship AS 87 eco to the customer.

Excellent transmission characteristics

With a transmission of 92 %, AS 87 eco is ideal for cover glass and sensor protection for smartphones, which both require extremely high levels of transmission. As smartphone displays become sharper and sensors become more sensitive, their cover glasses need to keep pace.
