Optical Filter Glass

SCHOTT’s industry-leading portfolio of optical filter glass features groups of products particularly suited to certain applications, which we gather into product variant families to make the huge range more convenient for you to choose from. In all cases, high quality components and quality assurance are key.
NIR Cut Filters

NIR Cut Filters

NIR cut filters have been used for decades in engineering and research in countless applications. SCHOTT offers a broad portfolio of filters that are specifically designed to absorb near-infrared radiation and to provide excellent short-pass characteristics featuring extremely high transparency in the visible.

CHARACTERISTICS

Different glass compositions are used for NIR cut filters in order to optimize the properties for the respective application. SCHOTT filters cover any size requirement from a few micrometers to several millimeters in thickness. These filters are optimized for their optical properties and the different operating conditions. Our filters are suitable for optical thin film coatings providing additional properties. The internal quality is so high that the filters can even be placed directly in front of the sensor in imaging systems.

YOUR ADVANTAGES
  • Available with a variety of different edge positions and color gradations.
  • The high optical quality enables distortion free optical images without stray light.
  • Continuous melting technology and mass production provide low manufacturing tolerances, high homogeneity and ensure exceptional reproducibility.
  • Steep transition from the transmission range to the blocking range.
  • Optimized glass types for difficult environmental conditions.

Neutral Density Filters

Filter glasses used for signal attenuation in measuring instruments or imaging optical systems offer a uniform transmittance over a large wavelength range.

CHARACTERISTICS

In the visible, these glasses are perfectly gray, but their homogeneous properties can also be used in the infrared range to uniformly reduce radiation intensity. SCHOTT's NG glass family comprises filter glasses of various grades of attenuation based on a robust silicate base glass. Thus, these filters can be used in almost all areas where light needs to be uniformly attenuated.

YOUR ADVANTAGES

  • Special dimensions and oversized formats are available upon request.
  • The high optical quality enables distortion free optical images without stray light.
  • Continuous melting technology and mass production provide low manufacturing tolerances, high homogeneity and ensure exceptional reproducibility.
  • Color-neutral absorption due to low wavelength dependence.
Protective Windows for LiDAR

Protective Windows for LiDAR

Protective glass windows from SCHOTT ensure high imaging quality and enable reliable 3D scanning of the surroundings.

CHARACTERISTICS

SCHOTT glass windows provide reliable protection to the LiDAR system’s sensitive electronics and optics. At the same time our materials are compliant with automotive regulations. The applied AR coatings enhance transmission, withstand harsh environments and the reflection color can be easily customized.

YOUR ADVANTAGES

  • High transmission for the laser wavelength of the LiDAR.
  • High mechanical strength.
  • Optimized AR for large incident angles and customized reflection color.
  • Available in black or clear visual appearance.
  • Cadmium free glasses.
  • Color-neutral absorption due to low wavelength dependence.

Cerium- and Samarium-doped Filter Glass

SCHOTT offers specific materials tailored for use as laser-pumping cavity filters used in a number of configurations, including plates, close-fitting cylindrical sleeves, and cylindrical water jackets. These filter glasses absorb undesired pumping light in the UV and IR ranges, preventing solarization of the laser glass.

CHARACTERISTICS

By absorbing the Nd laser light, these filters reduce amplified spontaneous emissions and eliminate parasitic oscillation, thereby increasing the efficiency and power of the laser.

YOUR ADVANTAGES

  • Adapted edge cladding glasses on request.
  • Possibility for chemical strengthening in order to increase resistance to breakage due to thermal shock.
  • Completely customized designs are possible.
Inquiry Glasses

Inquiry Glasses

As well as an extensive standard portfolio of optical filter glass, SCHOTT is also able to produce outdated glasses on special request. For special requirements, a custom-designed melt can be performed to produce glass made to your exact specification.

Several melting technologies are available, from Labscale to full industry production, with the availability of special property measurements.
