A new experience in pellet fires - ROBAX® NightView pellet stoves from SCHOTT set the stage

SCHOTT presents a new glass ceramic for pellet stoves at the Progetto Fouco Trade Fair

The translucent-black fire-viewing panel makes flames a sight for the eyes and is an appealing alternative to double glazing.

SCHOTT has come up with a new product for pellet stoves for this year's Progetto Fuoco,. Translucent-black glass-ceramic ROBAX® NightView not only calms the bright and often agitated display of flames, it also conceals the technical and not always clean interior when the fire is out. The new fire-viewing panel will be on display for the first time from February 19 to 22, 2020, at the Progetto Fuoco Trade Fair in Verona, Italy (Hall 9, Stand C12).
Mainz, Germany, February 19, 2020 – Pellet stoves are a popular alternative to wood-fired ovens because of their ease-of-use. The downside is that the display of flames in a pellet stove is somewhat different from the romantic flames in a wood fire. And when the stove is not in use, a transparent panel provides an open view of a dirty technical interior brimming with soot. Manufacturers have typically countered with complex double-glazing consisting of a fire-viewing panel and a tinted front panel. SCHOTT ROBAX® NightView now banishes this complex and bulky multi-panel construction to the past.

Two in one: pellet stoves redesigned

When heating, the translucent-black glass-ceramic creates novel visual effects: the flames seem calmer and have a naturally warm color. At the same time, when the stove is not in use the tinted fire-viewing panel conceals the combustion chamber, and the dark, gleaming facade blends in to any room. Pellet stoves are thus elegant design elements for homes year round.

For stove manufacturers, ROBAX® NightView means easier installation, cost savings, and opportunities for differentiation. This innovation from SCHOTT makes double-glazed glass-ceramic fire-viewing panels and tinted front panels unnecessary. The four-millimeter thick, innovative ROBAX® panel also unveils new options in design and construction. ROBAX® NightView is easily installed into pellet stoves of different sizes and shapes. Design elements like logos in three different colors can be applied on the glass-ceramic cut-outs. Pellet stove designers will soon be able to unleash their creativity.

Lots of new products at the Progetto Fuoco

The ROBAX® NightView is an innovation that is ready to impress at this year's Progetto Fuoco. Manufacturer La Nordica-Extraflame is presenting the new product as part of a pellet stove. Fair visitors will experience it live and on site. "Thanks to ROBAX® NightView our pellet stove Amika shows a unique, very effective flame picture. This innovative glass-ceramic from SCHOTT, developed and tested in cooperation with the LaNordica-Extraflame R&D department, enables us to realize completely new designs: The ash and the dirty burning pot become invisible when the pellet stove is turned off and in operation you can enjoy darker and calmer flames.”

In addition to ROBAX® NightView for pellet stoves, SCHOTT has included new developments for wood and gas devices in the fair package. Angled ROBAX® panels with Ideal Bending Edge for enhanced rigidity or with a particularly high bending radius are available. The former makes for easy panel installation for stove manufacturers, and the latter for an unhindered view of the fire for stove aficionados.

Moreover, "ROBAX® Magic with Signature Impressions" allows greater design variety on decorative surface structures, and printing of glass-ceramic inner linings of imitation log fires. It creates visual effects like bigger flames and a deeper combustion chamber. The panels have outstanding reflecting capability and a modern look.

The coated glass-ceramic ROBAX® IR Max also shines with high reflection. On the wavelength spectrum, it reflects up to seven times more infrared radiation between 800 and 8,000 nanometers back into the combustion chamber than an unlined viewing panel – and without losing capability during the entire burning time of the stove. The increased temperature in the combustion chamber means burning is more efficient, resulting in less emissions and soot deposits on the viewing panel. ROBAX® IR Max can be combined with all 16 decorative colors supplied by SCHOTT.

Pioneering spirit "Engineered in Germany"

SCHOTT ROBAX® glass-ceramic has been mass produced for 40 years. SCHOTT is a leading manufacturer, having sold more than 100 million fire-viewing panels. Heat-resistant glass-ceramic is used in transparent form for fire-viewing panels, and as colored glass-ceramic for the inner and outer linings of stoves. Its mechanical, thermal-shock and heat resistance make ROBAX® especially durable. The glass-ceramic consists of up to 95% natural raw materials, and is RoHs and REACH compliant. All ROBAX® production and product-testing processes have been certified by TÜV Hessen.
