Glass tubing for lighting applications

In lighting technology glass and light are very closely connected. Usually, special glass with specific properties is called for in these cases. SCHOTT special glass tubes and rods are used, for example, in explosion proof lights, halogen lights for displays and car head lamps, neon tubes, fluorescent tubes and light bulbs.

For these applications the following special glasses are used: DURAN®, AR-Glas®, CONTURAX®, alkali glass, lead glass and different aluminosilicate glasses.
