Fresnel lenses for use in television, film and theatre lighting

Fresnel lenses used in HMI lamps, with their very small point sources and high light output, have very special design requirements, whether used in spotlights (concentrated light) or floodlights (light spread out to 60°). For this purpose our lighting specialists have developed Fresnel lenses with short focal lengths, which achieve highly efficient uniform lighting, with more effective luminous flux. By changing the lamp to lens distance it is possible to use the luminaire for both spot and flood situations. The characteristics of the light remain the same - it is soft, uniform and diffused around the edges.

It is necessary for a Fresnel lens to have a convex shape, in order to bring the lamp as close as possible to the lens. SUPRAX®, our borosilicate glass is very well-suited to high temperature demands and temperature changes. In the event of extremely high thermal stress, special toughened Fresnel lenses are available.
Diameters available range from 50mm up to 625 mm (see table below).

Raw glass for plano-convex lenses
|
We produce SUPRAX® 8488 raw glass for plano-convex lenses in standard dimensions. We can process the unfinished lenses according to the customer's specifications.
