High Pressure Windows

High pressure windows - A sharp focus with safety glass

Whether in the chemical industry, the oil industry or power supply sector, the proven MAXOS® safety sight glasses are used all over the world whenever visual inspections are required under extreme temperature or pressure conditions in steam vessels, pressure tanks or pipeline systems.

Highly resistant to chemical stresses and temperature changes

The SUPRAX® borosilicate glass was specially developed for use in MAXOS® safety sight glasses and it ensures maximum resistance to chemical stresses. Maximum resistance to temperature changes is attained by means of low thermal expansion and additional thermal prestressing of high uniformity.

Maximum resistance to pressure

The mechanical strength and pressure resistance of sight glasses largely depend on the thermal prestressing, homogeneity, plane parallelism, precision dimensions and the flawless surface of safety glass. At SCHOTT a modern computer controlled glass melt produces homogenous glass that is virtually free of bubbles and straie. Advanced grinding and polishing processes are used to achieve extremely smooth and plane parallel surfaces. Compressive surface prestressing, which is a decisive factor for glass strength, is produced during thermal hardening.
