Robax

ROBAX® Transparent glass-ceramic

ROBAX® is highly transparent glass-ceramic having virtually zero thermal expansion. This unique flat glass-ceramic can withstand extreme temperature differences during use. It also has excellent thermal shock resistance where a sudden change in operational temperature may occur. Applications, where ROBAX® is used, are in fireplace viewing windows, industrial windows, severe duty lighting, and ovens.

While ROBAX® is highly transparent to visible light it is an effective filter to ultra-violet light, where it nearly blocks all wavelengths below 400 nm. This makes ROBAX® useful as a UV blocking filter. The manufacturing process of ROBAX®, via drawing, results in a slightly textured surface finish. Optically the material exhibits a slight brown tint. Full specification is available on request.

As well as being available in 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 mm sheets, ROBAX® is available in curved and bent forms. Limited printing is also possible on ROBAX®.
