Special Glass Tubing for LCD-Backlighting
Special glass applications used on flat screens for TV sets, computer monitors and mobile phones have been beneficially impacted by the dynamic development of CCFLs (Cold Cathode Flurescent Lamp), the background lighting for LCD TFTs (Liquid Cristal Display Thin Film Transistor).

The glass properties of SCHOTT special glass types not only meet the requirements of direct customers, but are also tailored to the entire value added chain, right up to the point of recycling the terminal equipment: easy workability of the glass, a UV block within the glass matrix offering effective protection from premature aging of plastic parts, high transmission rate for visible light to increase brightness, free from Arsenic, straightness – all these are part of product properties, just as is the environmental compatibility required by the recycling process.
