Saving Energy with a Clear View

GREEN is THE global trend, and in the food retail industry SAVING ENERGY is an extremely important topic. In supermarkets, refrigeration units use up the most electricity, followed by lighting and air conditioning and with ever rising energy cost, investing into energy efficient cooling units pays off short-term.
The energy efficiency of refrigeration units can be increased by up to 60 percent just by using glass doors compared to open refrigerator cabinets. SCHOTT Termofrost® door systems significantly reduce the temperature exchange between the refrigeration cabinet and the environment. They are easy to open, close automatically and are able to present products in a more attractive manner, thanks to their integrated lighting. The special safety glass used does not fog up and can even be supplied with an anti-reflective coating. In addition, LED or fluorescent lighting can also be integrated into the slim frame system. This means products can be displayed in an attractive manner in a way that saves electricity, yet can hardly be seen.

Heated door systems are used to prevent the glass panels from fogging up in warm and humid environments, here, the patented SCHOTT Termofrost® ECO-S , system helps to lower power consumption. It constantly measures both the temperature and the humidity in the cooling chamber and the surrounding environment and thus keeps the heating at the lowest possible level.
SCHOTT Termofrost® ECO-Clear® AGD doors were developed to offer an energy-efficient solution for deep-freeze applications. They are equipped with triple glazing and feature high thermal insulation. A transparent laminated anti-condensation foil reduces visible condensation when the doors are opened. This means these passive doors don’t consume any energy.
SCHOTT Termofrost® Retrofit frame-door systems help to ensure the right food temperature and thus quality, at the same time they reduce the energy consumption of the cooler cabinet by at least 30% compared to open cabinet solutions. The latest addition to our Retrofit line is the All Glass Door system designed to maximize the visibility of the products inside the cabinets. The door frame has disappeared almost completely and the frame itself has also been scaled down. The automatic hold open function makes it much easier to replenish or remove products. The system is easy to adapt to any type of cooler cabinet and, of course, comes with the appropriate adapter kit.
