SCHOTT's Electronic & Biotechnology Groups manufacture thin glasses such as AF 32® glass for the electronic industry that do not contain toxic heavy metal additives such as refining agents arsenic and antimony.

Thin glass AF 32® Eco



Thin glass type AF 32® eco is an aluminoborosilicate glass which is produced without using refining agents arsenic and antimony, using the down-draw technology process that enables production in very thin thicknesses between 0.1 and 1.1 mm. It is alkali-free in synthesis; however, contents of alkali oxide up to 0.2 weight percentages are possible by contamination of the raw materials and refractory material.



This thin glass type is suitable for applications where the following properties are required:

  • Production without the refining agents arsenic and antimony

  • Alkali-free in synthesis

  • Coefficient of thermal expansion match to silicon

  • High temperature resistance

  • High transmission

  • Smooth fire-polished surface

AF 32® eco is available in many different thicknesses in customized cut shapes, such as squares or round wafers.
