Due to the implementation of the digital camera in mobile phones, innovative solutions for effective light management are required. SCHOTT offers a wide variety of substrate materials in combination with excellent expertise in wafer processing for wafer level optics. Thus we can support our customers in miniaturizing the lens modules for camera phones at wafer level, offering a wide variety in thickness.

As one of the smallest devices, MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) are gaining in importance as development goes to smaller sizes with higher performance. SCHOTT supports this development and always tries to set new standards in the market which enable enhancements and further developments.

Smaller and cost competitive packages are driving the semiconductor industry when it comes to wafer level chip size packaging of image sensors. At the same time, the consumer is asking for better image quality. SCHOTT offers alkali-free glasses with a coefficient of thermal expansion that matches silicon manufactured to wafers of excellent optical quality. Thus our wafers enable packaging houses to fulfill the market requirements.

Biotechnology (microfluids, DNA analysis, ...)

In the fields of Biotechnology and Life Science, substrates with highest surface quality and cleanliness are requested.
Some referring applications are microfluidics (e.g. for medical analysis, drug testing or dosage) or biochips (e.g. arrays for DNA analysis).
With our customized Wafer products, we enable specific solutions and customer product designs. Due to the high chemical and thermal resistance, glass Wafer are often the material of choice in this field.
