Sketch of a possible infrastructure for a sustainable power supply in the EUMENA region (Europe, Middle East, North Africa). The red squares mark the (theoretical) space that solar collectors would need in order to generate enough electricity to meet the needs of the world, Europe, as well as the MENA region, with Concentrated Solar Power plants (CSP) in 2005. The “TRANS-CSP Mix EUMENA 2050” square shows the total surface needed for solar collectors in order to cover the needs of seawater desalination and two-thirds of the electricity demand in MENA by CSP plants in the year 2050, including ap­prox­imately one fifth of Europe‘s electricity demands. <| <|
