Excellent illumination whenever needed

Light guides are used in surgical microscopy for the illumination of the operation area as they
  • emit cold light,

  • exhibit excellent transmission properties,

  • and exhibit high color temperatures.
The light guides are either incorporated by the microscope manufacturer into the microscope stand or mounted on its side. They link the light source to the microscope lens. For this purpose we supply light guides with high quality light conducting fibers in accordance with the competent design issued by the customer.

These light guides can be produced with temperature-resistant ends at either one or both ends.

For use with high-power light sources, SCHOTT developed a unique end termination to increase the long-term operating safety of light guides in the upper temperature range (up to 350°C). Another advantage is that the transmission is increased by about 15%.
