X-Large Faceplates Expand Fiber Optic Product Portfolio
Larger format sets new standards for high resolution image transfer in X-ray, commercial and display applications
Mainz/Germany, March 23, 2010 - SCHOTT has developed an X-large format fiber optic faceplate for digital X-ray applications that enables high resolution imaging of areas of 430 mm x 430 mm and larger. The new fiber optic material not only allows for manufacturing in larger dimensions but also excellent resolution and high X-ray attenuation. More

Efficient coupling of LED light into fiber optics
More light with 2nd generation of LEDgine optics module for medical and custom-tailored applications
Mainz/Germany, March 23, 2010 - The 2nd generation of SCHOTT’s LED light engine (LEDgine) platform now offers up to 70% more light as before. Specifically developed for more efficient coupling of LED light into fiber optic bundles it ideally illuminates active diameters from 3.0 to 8.0 mm. This makes the LEDgine optics module an excellent choice for medical applications, where small diameter light guides are commonly used. The LEDgine optics module allows users to integrate the encapsulated module, containing LEDs and focussing optics and the separate control electronics directly into their system for custom-tailored solutions. Telecentric Lens Optics for Micro Machine Vision
MORITEX and SCHOTT present High-Resolution Telecentric Lens offering 20x Magnification
Tokyo (Japan) / Mainz (Germany), March 22, 2010 — MORITEX Corporation has designed a new telecentric lens for machine vision applications. With its optical magnification of 20x and a numerical aperture of 0.35, the “SOD-20X-V1” offers a resolution on par with a microscope lens. Its long working distance of 36.5 mm makes the lens less susceptible to heat, particles or oil which may be emitted during the examination process. Coupling this model with an optional rear converter lens even provides an optical magnification of 30x or 40x. This allows for imaging of fine, detailed characteristics with a precision that has not been reached until now. More

Distortion-free Optics for Line Scan Applications
MORITEX SCHOTT: High-Resolution Lens for Long Image Sensors of Line Scan Cameras
Tokyo (Japan) / Mainz (Germany), March 22, 2010 — MORITEX Corporation has developed a new lens for high-definition line scan cameras. “ML-L00502” offers an exact, high-contrast picture display at a screen diagonal of up to 62mm, today’s maximum applicable CCD sensor length. The illumination drop between the center and the periphery of the field of view is less than 20%. The distortion of the optic is less than 0.1%. More
