Different Lights. One Look. This supposedly simple demand remained unfulfilled in the aircraft cabin lighting industry for a long time. Now, SCHOTT Aviation offers the solution. At this year’s Aircraft Interior Expo (AIX) from April 5 - 7 in Hamburg, Germany, the company will showcase the world’s first holistic cabin lighting approach that orchestrates different light elements into one balanced scenario (SCHOTT booth 6B31).

“When looking at perfect light settings - as for example in nature - you will find that a mix of different color tones and intensities creates the real stunning moments. We are dedicated to gathering such inspirations in order to turn aircraft cabins into a very special place”, says Dr. Armin Plichta, Global Director Sales and Marketing at SCHOTT Aviation.

SCHOTT’s cabin illumination portfolio comprises solutions for functional and decorative lighting. The unique cabin illumination HelioJet® SpectrumCC provides sixteen million different color shades. No other system puts interiors into its true light with comparable accuracy and reliability. Every LED involved is permanently sensor controlled.
With HelioStar, cabin ceilings can be turned into a firmament of sparkling spots, thanks to smart use of fiber optics. And HelioLine, the new side-emitting optical fiber solution, provides almost unlimited possibilities to create fascinating impressions on board. Each contour, every surface is a potential subject for HelioLine enhancement. For monuments, toe kick areas, rolling shapes, and even edges, HelioLine is the innovative solution to connect design and functionality.

As the biggest provider of in-seat reading lights, SCHOTT will also display the novelties within the SCHOTT Reading Light range: a series of pre-qualified components to economically customize individual seat lighting solutions. Here, both fiber optic and LED expertise enables the company to present a variety of innovative solutions.
”We see a trend in the industry to look at interior cabin lighting from a broader perspective, and our holistic lighting concept at the moment is the only valid answer”, adds Plichta. “Scandinavian Airlines was the first to use the HelioJet® SpectrumCC flagship technology in its SAS’s A330 and A340 jets in the spring of 2015.
