SCHOTT in Jena
SCHOTT is an international technology group that develops and produces special glass, special materials, components and systems to improve the living and working conditions of people all over the world.
Jena is the place where SCHOTT was founded in 1884. Today as one of SCHOTT’s sites in Germany, Jena is home to various business units and companies. In addition to the production plant for solar modules and two melting tanks for special glass and post-processing facilities, you can also find the SCHOTT Glass Museum and the SCHOTT Villa of founder Otto Schott on the company’s premises in Jena.
SCHOTT is actively engaged in the social and cultural affairs of the community and marked the 125th anniversary of its founding in 2009.
SCHOTT maintains close ties to the Otto Schott Gymnasium and other schools in Jena by offering students the opportunity to participate in trial apprenticeships as well as business and technical training internships.
The company also maintains close ties to universities and other institutions in Jena. SCHOTT was the first business enterprise in Jena to receive the certificate “work and family” for its efforts in assisting employees to achieve a better work-life balance. The Sports club SV SCHOTT Jena with around 1,000 members and the Music Club SCHOTT Jena are integral parts of the city’s cultural life.
