A brief glossary

Cooktop A complete cooking system, composed of a cooktop panel, frame, heating and control panel components and temperature control.
Cooktop panel A glass-ceramic panel, without a frame or heating and control components.
Cooking zone The area of the cooktop panel heated by heating element(s).
Multi-circuit cooking zone A zone with rings that can be adapted to pots and pans of various size and shape.
Temperature control A safety device built into the heating element that automatically switches off the cooking zone to keep it from overheating.
Heat indicator lights A light, usually at the front of the cooktop, that indicates when cooking zones or gas burners are hot.
Warming/simmering zone A zone where food can be kept warm or cooking at very low heat.
Touch-Control A control panel that operates by touch.
