SCHOTT CERAN^® nominated for German Sustainability Award 2011

SCHOTT has been nominated for the German Sustainability Award 2011 for its environmentally friendly CERAN^® cooktop panel. Together with two other companies, SCHOTT is one of the top three in the category “Germany's most sustainable products and services”.

With its nomination, the jury paid tribute to SCHOTT’s outstanding technological expertise and its acceptance of responsibility for society and the environment. Following the development of a new environmentally friendly melting technology, the company became the world's first and only manufacturer of black glass-ceramic cooktop panels to produce these products without using the toxic heavy metals arsenic and antimony as additives and is setting new global standards once again.

SCHOTT CERAN^® winner of the German Innovation Award 2010

The sustainable engagement in the development of SCHOTT CERAN^® has been awarded. For its innovations in the areas of product development, manufacturing and marketing of the brand SCHOTT CERAN^®, SCHOTT won the reputable German Innovation Award 2010 in the Large Enterprises category.

SCHOTT has developed a new production process which doesn’t use the toxic heavy metals arsenic and antimony as additives. Moreover, the newest generation of cooktop panels, which has been launched on the market in 2009, is the first one that can transmit blue light through the cooking surfaces.

As part of how the company works together with appliance manufacturers and with the help of a selective information campaign, the eco-friendly manufacturing process used with SCHOTT CERAN^® is also being put to use as a selling point that allows the company to stand out clearly from the competition.
