SCHOTT presents highly transparent door variety for refrigerated cabinets at EuroShop 2017

Best visibility for product presentation and fast amortization are key decision factors for food retailers for closing open refrigerated display cases

New door solutions for refrigerated cabinets from SCHOTT offer best visibility for product presentation and allow for retrofitting into existing refrigerated display cases. The closing of open cabinets becomes more and more attractive to retailers, especially as the return on investment (ROI) of closing open cabinets is approximately 2.5 years. Retailers benefit from 30 to 65% energy savings and stand out at the Point of Sale (PoS) with an appealing merchandise presentation. 

Refrigerated cabinets are the largest consumer of power in a supermarket, which is increasingly leading shop owners to close them in1. The latest generation of cooling doors for cabinets not only save energy costs by keeping the cold inside but also offer the visibility of open cabinets. This is especially important as bigger supermarkets are booming, leading to an constantly increasing amount of retail space for cooled and frozen food products2. Today, larger supermarkets average already 50 meters of refrigerated cabinets and an additional 40 meters of frozen food cabinets in store3

Subsidized closed refrigerated cabinets
Closing refrigerated cabinets is a future-oriented investment towards improved sustainability and better cost control in the supermarkets. The topic is relevant to many countries including France which actively subsidizes this step as only around 30 percent of refrigerated cabinets are closed. The same (33 percent) applies to UK-based small convenience stores. The number of closed cabinets among more traditional supermarket concepts in the UK and other countries is even lower.

With the SVD sliding door range, SCHOTT also offers transparency for half-height chillers, available both in curved and flat glass panels. With these innovative cooling door solutions, retailers can stand out from the competition with improved orientation at PoS and create an innovative shopping experience for their customers.
