Housings for Gas Sensors

As the name suggests, gas sensors are used to detect a wide range of gases. Hence, they are most frequently used with the intention of alerting people when the surrounding area is filled with dangerous concentrations of gas, thereby enabling them to take corrective action.

Product Description

This being said, the gas sensors themselves must be protected from the gases that they monitor – in some cases, the gas could be extremely damaging. Hence, glass-to-metal sealed (GTMS) feedthroughs not only protect the sensors, but also simultaneously ensure that the sensors are supplied with electrical power.

Product Advantages

The glass-to-metal feedthroughs ensure that the sensitive sensors are reliably and effectively protected from the gases being measured. These feedthroughs can be adapted to a range of different gases and areas of application depending on customer requirements.

Applications

Gas sensors are used in a variety of applications, both at home (such as gas ranges) as well as in the industrial sector. Gas sensors are also used in vehicles, where they are used to monitor carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration levels inside the passenger compartment when traveling through tunnels. In case of high carbon dioxide levels, the closure of the vents and the activation of the air re-circulation process is initiated.

Technology

To ensure the reliable hermeticity of these housing components, glass-to-metal sealing technology is used. Please click on this page for more information.
