Journey through time: Technology and Innovation

For more than 130 years, the scientists and engineers at SCHOTT have been developing new technologies and products with custom-made features in the area of special glass. The result: A multitude of often spectacular innovations for almost all areas of life.


This exciting history of product and technology development is on display at the SCHOTT Glass Museum. Visitors can also see how SCHOTT has been meeting the visions and challenges of the future with its special glass and other high-tech materials.

A reflection of German history

Otto Schott was one of the most important scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs of his time.
Visitor’s can gain insight into the many facets of his life’s work in the SCHOTT Villa, where he lived and worked.


Further exhibitions accompany the visitor on a journey through the company’s history which has been marked by separation and reunification, as well as its rise to an international technology group.

Opening times:

Tuesday to Thursday: 01.00 pm until 05.00 p.m.

Group tours can be arranged outside of the normal opening times.
