New reading lights and flexible LED contour illumination / HelioJet® SpectrumCC nominated for German Innovation Award

At AIX 2018, SCHOTT will present discreet, elegant reading lights and flexible LED solutions that put seats in the right light and create pleasant ambience. HelioJet® SpectrumCC will also be on display – a sophisticated lighting system that puts aircraft cabins into natural colors and has recently been nominated for the German Innovation Award.

“Perfect lighting creates a perfect atmosphere – and a distinguishing feature for airlines and aircraft outfitters,” explains Dr. Burkhard Danielzik, Vice President of Automotive, Aviation & Industrial for SCHOTT Lighting & Imaging. “Being a lighting specialist we aim at offering a great variety of solutions to the industry.” For Danielzik, that includes equipping aircrafts with current technology platforms such as LEDs. “Lighting products must meet special demands to be used in aircraft cabins: a combination of visual performance, easy integration, fast installation, low maintenance and homogeneous light output over an entire service life.”

Flexible contour lighting for seats
SCHOTT® HelioCurve is the company’s perfect realization of these demands. An extremely narrow bending radius means the LED lighting solution can be integrated virtually anywhere, as contour lights in seat pockets or compartments for instance, or under armrests. It is also ideal for illuminating corridors and other surfaces thanks to fast and easy installation. Its true-color sensor technology enables HelioCurve to emit homogeneous light throughout its entire service life.

Elegant reading lights create new accents
With SCHOTT® Opal, the company is introducing an elegant aircraft seat lighting with an especially low installation depth that can be integrated into numerous surface materials, from leather to polymer. At the touch of a finger, the slim aluminum button tilts forward a few millimeters to provide discreet light. When switched off, the operating light is both a design element and a guide for passengers.

Award-worthy cabin lighting
The German Design Council has nominated HelioJet® SpectrumCC for the German Innovation Award. This LED cabin lighting features a special control system: four LED lights – red, blue, green and white – are fed into an optical light converter while sensors measure and control each individual LED, ensuring a uniform light across all cabin units. HelioJet® SpectrumCC has been successfully established on the market for many years.
